St Anthony's Catholic College - Padua Campus

CONTRACT BUILD -  $4million

AGC was contracted for the 2014  facilities upgrade at St Anthony's Catholic College, Padua Campus. This upgrade comprised of the the construction of a new tuckshop, library building, amenities block and the construction of a new and an extension to the existing administration block. Also undertake was the refurbishment of the existing administration block, class room block and the reconfiguration of the existing carpark. AGC delivered completion of this project on time and within budget.

The new buildings are modern, bright and appealing within the surrounding grounds complimentary with existing buildings and structures. Building materials were consistent with existing buildings, however portrayed a more modern appeal to create a ‘fresher’ learning environment.

The main new building has a “shopping complex” feel to it with its wide breezeway area linking to the previous multi-purpose hall. It has been designed as the initial forefront of the school and has enhanced the overall impression of the school as a modern innovative educational facility.

The new administration extension entrance takes advantage of ceiling height to add a dimension of space and clean lines, adding to the modern fresh feeling upon entering the facility. This building has been constructed to create a pleasing and aesthetic working environment for staff and a professional yet welcoming area for both visitors and students alike. A comfortable and calming new sick bay was also delivered within the new administration extension, linking seamlessly into the newly renovated existing administration building.

The new library is bright and vibrant utilising the unusual wide window casings for quiet reading areas. The building is a large light open space with a high quality finish and plenty of furnishings to allow for the maximum number of students. The longevity of the furnishings and fixtures is vital for such a high traffic area. Separate work rooms have been created for the staff, including storage areas.

The tuckshop staff had direct input into their layout and equipment needs to ensure their space is functional and fit for purpose. This resulted in a modern, up to date facility with large walk in fridge and freezer areas, large serving counter and ample work surfaces in an air conditioned building. Outside is the wide breezeway area which is constructed to accommodate the dry tropical environment and provide appropriate shade and furniture to support social gatherings between peers during lunchtimes.

Within the breezeway area a new meeting room and uniform shop had also been included to enhance the school’s facilities. The final new building for this project was a new amenities block added within the existing school whereby creating ease of access for the existing classrooms. This facility is constructed to provide durability and long life.

L Block received a facelift through the refurbishment creating new multi-purpose rooms including an IT area for students. The new vibrant internal operable walls complemented the existing external art work creating a colourful playful area close to the shaded playground for students.

The carpark was reconfigured and with a new design provided for easy access to the school for parents’ students and staff. The wider area for ‘set down’ ensures further safety for the students.
