BWGCOLMAN Retail Precinct - Palm Island
About Project
Delivered in partnership with the Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council, this $9.45m project created a modern two-storey retail and business hub with 1,200m² of lettable space and featured artworks by three local First Nations artists.
Built with sustainability in mind, the Retail Precinct incorporates timber to reduce carbon impacts, water-saving fixtures, drought-resistant landscaping, and provision for future solar and battery systems.
The project also achieved 28% Indigenous employment, over 5,300 hours of local work, 1,800 apprentice hours, and supported community programs including NAIDOC events, youth sport, and arts initiatives.
